I am not sure how but I have my first draft of DSE212 TMA03 ready, today at work, the creative juices were flowing and the results, discussion and procedure just flowed out on to a computer screen. There is still a long way to go to make it appear in English but I am happy that the bones are there to start messing around with. I have to admit that the methods book for DSE212 is far better than that of ED209. I really do wish that I had done DSE212 before ED209 as it would have been a great basis but hindsight is a great thing and I would have had a large gap. I still passed ED209 but maybe would have graded slightly better.
Time to start a plan for DSE212 TMA04 which will take my mind off TMA03,and makes me feel like I am getting somewhere.

2012 2012 2012 2012 2012
Happy New Year!!!
Well 2012 is upon us and the papers talk of doom and gloom but I am optimistic for the year ahead. I have plans in mind.
By the end of this year I am hoping to have achieved the following:
• 5 nights in New York with my dearest.
• Moving in with my dearest
• DSE212 completed
• SD226 completed
• DXR222 completed
• The combination of the 3 above mean that I am over half way through this degree which is a major achievement and will be celebrated in true Champagne style.
• A weekend in a Yurt (xmas present)
• 5 nights in Rome (I’m actually going there for Valentines on business but to go with my partner would be the actual aim)
I don’t think anything above is going to be too taxing so highly achievable. I was going to add the purchase of a 3D TV but that might be pushing it.
Working today so doing my usual thing of reading and highlighting OU texts. I am actually on Book 2 Chapter 3 – Sex and Gender so I have pretty much almost finished the readings for DSE212 which is well ahead of time but I really need to kick on with SPSS workings so I will hit that in one go. SD226 is just around the corner and I am oddly excited by the prospect because I have really enjoyed the Biological Perspective to date.
Revision for DSE212 seems so little compared to ED209 with only 7 chapters to revise along with those Key Terms. I think I only have to revise one topic from Book 2 which will be Sex and Gender.
DSE212 TMA02 due on January 11th. Option B is the chosen Essay and I think I need about 2 more hours on it to get it ready to be submitted. Haven’t really said too much on Neurones apart from how drugs work on them but it seems pretty fluid. The methodology stuff is pretty simple so fingers crossed. Then on to TMA03 which is a quantitative report (oh joy).

Post xmas update
I have really fallen behind with my blogging so thought that a worthwhile update was in order.
Xmas day was the usual family day of trying to be civil and in the most part it was pretty successful. The other half arrived at 8pm which made the evening bearable.
Yesterday was our 6 month anniversary and all seems to be going very well. There is talk of moving in together and he is not adverse to 12 months in Huddersfield when it comes time for my MSc.
New Job (I know.....again) is going swimmingly and appears to have been a very wise move. I love that someties great things happen when you think that you have screwed something up royally.
DSE212 is in full flow with the first TMA submitted and a staisfying result. TMA02 is due 11th January and I am around 75% through it. Just really need to make English out of the Essay and finish the research questions. I have had a spluge on reading and have almost finished reading and highlighting Book 2 Chapter 3 hich is way ahead of where I really need to be but it is interesting.
Revision topics for DSE212 appear to be a breeze compared to ED209 with only 7 testable chapters and in a real world, you could get away with 4 safely unless I have not read this all properly along with key terms. I have started to plan revision ready for June 11th exam. I get ahead because I know I go through periods of 'can't be naffed'.
For xmas my mother bought me David Canter's text on Investigative Psychology which I strongly suspect to be the first text in the MSc course and therefore at some point very soon I will start reading and highlighting and at £25 a pop, they aren't cheap.
Xmas Presents:
Superdry hoodie, Just Business by Geraint Anderson AKA Cityboy (already finished and pretty good although prefered his first), Binge Trading by Seth Freedman (Started well but got left in the pub the other day so need to go find it), Fountain pen (love this, been thinking for ages about going back to the old skool ways), HDMI cable and a night in a Yat in York.
SD226 starts in February so need to press on.

DSE212 TMA01 Submitted
Okay, I know that the submission was due at midday today but I have only just submitted it and in the past it hasn't been an issue. The topic for part 1 was not really my cup of tea, it was about identity which was broached upon in DD101 and ED209 although in quite different ways. I get the feeling it is a rather central theme in Psychology so I guess that I am going to have to get to grips with it. I picked the psychosocial to compare against and maybe wish I hadn't as I think SIT would have been a better alternative. The psychosocial perspective appears a little warped which makes comparisons hard. The ethical part of it was interesting and the study involved was rather interesting especially when you google the real experiment and read in to it further.
On to TMA02 now and I have already highlighted the chapters which are relevent although I haven't quite decided which to do. I initially though that biological psychology would be the way to go as it deals with disorders however after ready the chapter on evolutionary psychology, I am quite interested in it. Think I might just start on the statistics side of it today whilst I watch two and a half men (the Charlie Sheen version, the new one is rubbish) and anything else on Comedy Central.
I am not working at the moment although being paid up till 30th November and although I was have my own crisis, I think I am going to have to go back in to the motor industry (kicking and screaming) for the money aspect. I really fancied doing something challenging but think job hunting is too hard right now and that for a while I should stick to what I know.

Reflections on DD101
I know that this post has been a really long time coming and in real terms ED209 is about due!! However lets start with what I learnt about DD101.
DD101 is a nice module, it covers a wide variety of topics which should interest most people who have any interest in the world from the troubles in ireland to the debate on Tesco towns. However there are some short cuts and advice that I may be able to help with.
1) You only need to really read the chapters that are relevent to the TMAs that you are doing.
2) The further you get in to the module, the more interesting the topics become.
3) Try to get to grips with what is required for a crtical analysis as early on as possible and really get to know your 'process' words so that you are getting the right answers to the questions.
4) You can only PASS this module so use it as a time to play around with the TMAs to see what works for you rather than trying to get that First as you won't see it.
5) Pick DSE212 as your next module as oppossed to ED209!! DSE212 is the level 2 version of DD101 in many ways. ED209 has really caught my interest but it isn't easy as there is so much to learn. The TMAs are okay but the amount you need to learn for the exam is heavy.

DSE212 has started
This may be a bit of a long update as it may have been a while.
DSE212 has begun and I now totally understand why they suggest that you do it prior to ED209. DSE212 looks a doddle in comparison. SD226 starts in february and I have already been warned that it is more like a 60 point module rather than the advertised 30 points although to be fair with only 4 TMAs and no exam, it can't be more problematic than ED209.
ED209 exam actually went pretty well considering. I had revised 7 topics between Book 1 and 2 focusing on topics which had come up frequently in the past 4 years of exams. Luckily for me, Temperament came up and Gender Identity came up. Seen Question went pretty well although I was re-reading it up to the last minute but it did stick fairly well. Temperament did go out of my head a bit but some stuck enough to put to paper and Gender Identity became more of a ramble.
DSE212 - Have started TMA01 which is due November 9th and have made a fair stab at it. It is based around identity theories but not like in ED209 although some of the ideas are similar. Going to use next Wednesday to get it done. The Ethics part is pretty much okay, just need to break down what I have in to 3 answers.
Am looking for another job again and possibly looking at moving from car sales in to Recruitment Consultancy only because I want 9-5 Monday to Friday but has downside of no company car. Started looking properly today and have had calls about car sales job, one of which could be quite interesting.

Shock, Horror......... an update
Ok, ok. I know I've been a little distant from this blog but have now been 'in a relationship' for 3 months (tommorrow actually) and I'm enjoying it. I will get bcak to this properly very shortly with loads of proper updates. Reflections on DD101 is still required along with other updates with regards to my OU path and others.
NEWS IN BRIEF:
DD101 - Passed
ED209 - Exam on 18th October. Actually have started revision and so far am pretty competent with: Temperament, Peer & Sibling, Gender and First Relationships. I am planning on another 6 to make 10 chapters in all. Seen question should be okay, have my bits from the chapter that I'm using and also the papers that I am pulling from.
DSE212 - Starts next weekend, books are all here and website is open. Looks pretty simple in relation to ED209. Folks, do DSE212 before ED209!!!!
SD226 - No books but registered for February.
DZR222 - the one with residential course. Signed up and going to Bath on 28th July for the week.
DSE232 - Signed up for this starting October next year I think but not really worrying about it quite yet.
Have taken October 10th off for 4 days to cram revise. Notes for the 10 topics will be in place so just need to read and play with them to 'actively' remember. Thinking that minor theorists are going to be tough to remember. I hope that 10 are enough..... if not I've been stupid.
The 10 - Temperament, Siblings and Peers, Gender, First Relationships, Origins of Development, Attachment, Disturbed and Disturbing, Young Consumers, National Identity and another one that I haven't decided on as of yet. After looking at the last 4 years papers, it is evident that these topics come up a lot with others scoring 0, and as I am well aware that I will never remember 14 topics, I am reducing this. My focus will be on temperament and Siblings and Peers as I have high hopes for them.
Off out with the boy tonight as per normal but he's good with my degree stuff as long as he gets his feet rubbed............ easy. LOL

Hmmmm
I've been away from here for a while now and it appears to be down to a rather hectic relationship. It's all going very well though and we are currently housesitting for his sister which is very nice.
I haven't done a lot with regards to OU stuff and am maybe under the title of slacker but all changes on 1st September when I have to concentrate on ED209. Exam date is October 18th and my mind is a total blank. I remember the 4 basic principals of Skinner, Vygotsky and Piaget and Bandura but that is about it. Revision feels a little like learning again. TMA06 is due on the 4th and i've hardly made a dent, coding is proving to be problematic.
Have decided to pretty much ignore OU till the 1st so that I have a plan in mind and can chill then cram. Gonna miss hanging with boyfriend and friends for 6 weeks but it doesn't happen often so I'm sure (maybe) that I'll cope. So many things that would make for interesting reading about the goings on over the last 2 months but really not possible and totally unrelated to OU.
Passed DD101. Got confirmation letter. Will do a reflections on DD101 page soon when I'm less hazy.

ED209 TMA05 Submitted
I have just this second pressed the 'submit' button which is very much the most therapeutic thing that you can do. In-text citations are complete, more suprisingly after only a glass of red. TMA05 proved to be a lot more interesting that I actually expected however it was very bitty. You had to draw information from 3 chapters rather than the usual 1 maybe 2 at a push.
Been working on my seen question at work today and think my idea may be a little specific. I was going to concentrate on CBCA and SVA by think I may actually have to widen to child witness in general. I am still drawn to culpability but I really want to incorporate David Canter in to this and he has done a fair chuck on child witness in sexual aduse cases.
Hmmmmmmmm, what to do for the rest of the night??????? Films I think.

Weak Willed
Well TMA05 is virtually done with only the in text citations to complete. My notes have been pretty tight so it shouldn't be too long winded and I have 150 free words in which to put them in however.............. been invited to the pub so therefore there is nothing better than a last minute dash to insert them before cut-off at midday tomorrow. Doh!!!

Hello again
It's been a long while since my last update and this is total due to new boyfriend. It's been a month now and we are getting on very very well. Very similar people which works perfectly.
Today was a desolate Sunday at work but gave the time for a well needed ED209 catch up. TMA05 is due on Tuesday and it is coming along pretty well. Just need to spend tomorrow night writting the conclusion, editing and adding references which shouldn't take any longer than a few hours.
I got a sign from god (David Canter) today with regards to my seen question. I was going to do it on the culpability section but was honestly finding it hard to find all that many papers on it for the area I wanted. Today after doing what I needed to I picked up David Canter's Mapping Murder and there amongst the section on Jack The Ripper's diary was refernce to child witnesses in sex abuse cases. After a little research it appears that Canter himself has written a fair chunk on the area which means that I can use papers written by him within the Journal Of Investigative psychology within my seen question. Major plus side is that because it's from him, I am unlikely to forget it!!! Yey
Still no final result back from DD101 which is starting to grate a little. I can't write my reflection page until this comes back and it will feel like closing the book on it too.
DSE212 is my new course starting in October however and introductory page will open on August 2nd which is quite exciting and my books are being mailed on September 9th although I need to be focussed on ED209 Exam, TMA06 and Seen Question before I think about DSE212.
Got new Smartphone after loosing my last one on a rather drunken night out. It's not the most advanced phone out there by any means (LG T505) however I am finding it to be pretty user friendly and therefore it has been nicknamed the Dumbphone. Made for the technologically devoid.
Was totally shocked after seeing what OU are going to charge new students from 2012. Totally shocked.......... I love the way I learn with OU and it has proved better than any brick uni that I've been to but £15,000 for a degree............. £2,500 per 60 point module............ How in the name of education can they see fit to charge this. Yes, I know that brick uni's are going to be £21,000 (assuming they charge the max) but this is OU and I really can't see how £15,000 is the right amount to charge and how they actually can justify it. I suppose time will tell and I am so glad that I started when I did else there is no way that I would be paying that amount!!! I'm freaking out about paying £5,000 for my Masters without the costing of living expenses!!!!
Off out with other half tonight....... Has to be an improvement on last night when I got round, he started a film and I was asleep 30 minutes later. Doh

ED209 Reading completed
I have reached the end of Book 3 now so now it's 2 more TMAs, Seen Question and Exam revision. Popping out to see The One tonight for a beer (nothing more), just fancied a catch up as we've always been good friends either way. Was out with boyfriend and his friends last night, didn't plan to go out at all, then thought why not go meet them for a swift beer whch ended at 2am........ I'm off today so I suppose no real harm done.
Lost my phone last night so bought a new LG-T505 which I thought was just going to be basic and crap, however suprised that on first impressions it seems pretty cool. Still need to read instruction manual now.

ED209 TMA04 Results
The results are back and............... drum roll............. I'm really happy with them. They are 20% higher than I was actually expecting because I though my report was dreadful. Been given loads of great feedback in preparation for TMA06 so fingers crossed I am on target for my required final grade, just have to sort the exam side of it now.
Haven't done a lot for TMA05 really however I know what I want to put in to it so just a case of sitting through the sections and making proper notes.
The new guy is proving to be a total angel, very chilled and normal. His friends are lovely too which all works well. Met his folks for the first time last night, dad was really nice however wasn't sure how mum was as she wasn't overly friendly but I'm sure I am just being a drama queen over nothing or at least I hope so. Hopefully seeing him tonight for a beer and will spend tomorrow night doing college work.
Had to spend yesterday at a Fayre with 3 cars. Very uninteresting however I did managed to make a major dent in David Canter's book 'Mapping Murder'. It is pretty cool and very well written. I am very taken by his section on Fred West and the 'memoirs' that he paid a fair chunk of money for just to be a bale to read them. Very insightful and thought provoking. From Proffessor Canter's books and anything else that I have managed to read of his, it is very obvious that he doesn't suffer fools gladly and that his work is his top priority................ darn, I really hope that I get the chance of Huddersfield.
ED209 TMA05 Update
I have now done all the required reading for TMA05 and it is actually pretty interesting. Was initially considering ditching book 3 however I am having a rethink and might actually keep it in. I've done a lot of googling around the nativist approach and finding that it has helped an awful lot because there is a lot to take in. Actually started writting it today so I have an introduction which I suppose is a start. Boss away tomorrow so will kick in properly with it.
I've started doing a lot towards the seen question too. I have downloaded and read through a few of the academic papers which I am planning to include although I am starting to think that there is a lot of info to put into a 750 to 1000 word essay. I'm sure it will all start to become clearer later (I hope).
The reason for the big gap in updating this blog is that I have started seeing the nicest guy I think I have ever met. Take this with a pinch of salt at the moment as my track record suggests, however I am pretty whipped and we get on really well so fingers crossed I get to keep him.
Onwards and upwards with TMA05

ED209 TMA05
False sense of security means I haven't done huge amounts for TMA05. I have however read everything that I need to put in it and written a basic plan. I am quite interested in this TMA and to be honest I wasn't when I started it. Will kick on with it later this week as the olds have left me home alone for a week and I feel like I am on holiday myself.
Really would like to do all the reading for the seen question this week and start on a plan so that it is also done before the TMA05 deadline.
I went on a 'First Date' last night with a really nice guy who I met a few Friday's ago. Although I have had 'a few' boyfriend's, I have usually just 'got together' with them and the first date never happened. Last night's first date was really cool and it was not as scarey as I had worked myself up for. In fact it went so well that we are seeing each other tonight. Definitely 100% going to take it a lot slower with this one because he is a fantastic catch. No psychosis and a whole heap of stuff in common!!!!!!!!

Goodbye TMA04
It's amazing how motivated you can become with only hours to spare. Managed to complete TMA04 at the 11th hour (quite literally 11pm), it isn't my best work by a long long way but will be happy with a pass and just glad it's behind me.
Next step is reading and highlighting Book 3 and doing my seen question along with TMA05 but plenty of time and Sunday's at work to get it all done. Feeling a lot more relaxed. Breathing space........... Ahhhhhhhh
Found out something rather interesting today. My tutor gives us handouts on random topics and just says that they may just come in useful. Got chatting to a Lecturer at another Uni close to work who laughed and said that the tutors know what the exam questions are because they write them!!! I know this sounds like a Doh moment but I honestly didn't think about that at all. I now have a far better idea of what I am going to focus on. God bless random customers.
Going to read and highlight a few pages now as feeling the burn.

TMA04 still not gone
Really should not be blogging when I have only 3 hours to complete this assignment but have found that this blog helps me focus on what I am about to start as it becomes my goal. I know the official deadline was 12pm but I'm going for broke that it won't be a major problem.
Once this has been submitted I won't have to submit TMA05 till August so get a bit of breathing space to get through Book 3 and write up my Seen Question.
The Tech is back on the scene again and looks like I may well be catching up with him tomorrow evening, but we shall see.
Got myself in a situation which I wasn't expecting. I have a party to attend to celebrate the life of someone who passed away in March 24th. It will be mostly a Fetish affair which is usually fun in this club. I invited The One who I was certain wouldn't come because we have had a purely Sunday relationship since we started seeing one another again and when he didn't say yes straight away, I assumed it was no. I have a married friend we will call The Dealer (a fellow car dealer) who I was texxting last night. He mentioned that we hadn't seen each other in a while and we should catch up. I suggested that he go as my date, also assuming he would say no, being married and all but guess what.......... he said he was up for it........ GREAT, I have a date....... however, The One text me to say that he is up for a new experience and would like to come. WHAT A DILEMMA. Decision needs to be made tomorrow. But really looking forward to the fetish party either way.

Dragging heals on TMA04
I still have the abstract, discussion, references and appendices to complete and I am dragging my heals in the biggest way possible. Cut off is Midday tomorrow and I don't have the motivation to get on with it!!! This is a first for me but I am struggling to get it right so think I am going to end up 'making do' and relying on my fantastic tutor's feedback ready for TMA06. This is really not me!!!!!!!!
All seems to have gone cold on The Tech front and starting to get a little arsey with The One. Boy Toy has disappeared of the face of the earth which can only be a bonus as he was starting to bug me.
I do wonder if I can get away with finishing TMA04 tomorrow at work rather than tonight?!?!??!!? Probably but with ear ache. Will get the simple stuff done tonight such as abstract, references and appendices and will fluff discussion tomorrow whilst at work. Ah hell............ again!!!

Started Book 3
I have been procrastinating from TMA04 and started reading and highlighting Book 3. I am starting to see trends along the way in this course so hoping that hen I do start revising that it won't be quite as tough as I am prepared for. Book 3 starts by summing up a lot of stuff that I've already read about so felt quite confident on it.
Went out last night for a friend's 30th birthday which turned out to be rather amusing. Both my brother and I pretty much managed to outdrink the birthday boy and got a little worse for wear. I forgot to set my alarm, was woken by stepdad at 9.14am asking if I was working today (was supposed to start at 9am). Boss not a happy soul, he will chill though so I'm not too worried. Brother phoned to ask how we got home and was fairly mortified to discover that he almost started 2 fights.
Tomorrow is TMA04 day as I am in the showroom on my own and doubt I will see many people.

When you think you've done nothing......
I thought today was going to be fairly unproductive however I feel I have accomplished a few bits which seem to have made me feel like I've done more.
I have now completed reading and highlighting Book 2 and have actually made a start on Book 3 but only by a few pages, feels nice to have Book 2 done as I was starting to feel a little behind.
I have re-coded the Annie and Kirsty interviews whilst at work so at least now I have a results section. Chapter 8 in Book 2 has drawn a fair amount of stuff together that I can include in the Discussion part of TMA04. Have decided that a 2,000 word practical is not enough. You could go crazy and write an awful lot more.
I have listed all the chapters in all the books with the frequency of times the question has come up in the past 4 years of papers and have found some very common themes so will try to revise these to nth degree.
Finally I have watched a wicked film called Limitless which was recommended by my mother. I'd recommend it to anyone. And I've plucked my eyebrows...
............ it's all in a day's work.
